Our Chapter’s History

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at New York University has been an active professional society on campus for more than 25 years. New York University achieved recognition as an official SHPE student chapter in 1992. Since then, the chapter has taken great strides towards implementing SHPE’s national mission statement and values at NYU. Our chapter has grown immensely, with more dedicated active members than in previous years. In recent year, NYU-SHPE has been honored Our goal as an organization includes recruitment, retention, and the development of professional, educational, and communication skills.

Our Impact

We are humbled and honored to be recognized as a Blue Chip Award Recipient, NYU Presidential Service Award Recipient, and an Outstanding Award for Collaboration Recipient this year. None of this would have been possible without our hardworking Executive Board and 91 members who have been instrumental in allowing our chapter to continue to thrive and be active in the NYU community. We have planned over 50 events this past year centered around SHPE’s main five pillars: Academic Development, Chapter Development, Community Outreach, Leadership Development, and Professional Development.
